I just finished “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life” by Barbara Kingsolver. The book chronicles a year when Ms. Kingsolver and her family grew their own vegetables, raised their own poultry, and pledged to buy what they could not grow from local sources. It is a beautifully written ode to food and deliciousness, with political and scientific tidbits that even the science-challenged can appreciate and understand.
