it all started back in the summer of '00 when my friends and I were, as usual, trying to decide where to go for dinner. We realized we were bored with the same old places. Even our favorites had gotten old. We wanted new, different and good…. But what? And where? And how much? And what was the menu like? And where exactly was it located?
So I bought my first “Dining Out” book. It had restaurant listings, meal discounts, and some basic information. The coupons were great because you got a little break while “researching” new places to eat, but it had very few restaurants listed, and most of those didn’t have menus, prices, hours of operation—the stuff I wanted. I found a few places I now frequent, but the book lacked quantity and variety.
I turned to the Internet and found many "restaurant-guide sites that had thousands of restaurants listed, but there were hardly any listings with any detail, and they still didn’t have menus or prices, and very few discounts were available. Also, a lot of the restaurants listed were no longer around! It was like a confused mass of government bureaucracy that had no idea of what was going on “out there.”
