To Whom it Concern: As you know our supermarkets do not stock key staple foods for those on certain medically necessary diets. Although, one can find some products that are acceptable for their diets, many are lacking. The lower demand and greater expense of these products keep them off local supermarket shelves along with I am sure other factors. We are not a health food store or a supermarket. We are a special diet food shop. We are a provider of medically necessary food.
The mission of our organization is to provide greater food choices and easier accessibility(one-stop shopping) to those on medically necessary diets.
Most of the Products we stock indicate from the manufacturer that they are to be used on a special diet - eg Protein restricted. Furthermore, in this country our labeling laws do not require manufacturers to print on their products the amino acid content (eg Phenyalanine, Leucine, Isoleucine) which is of great importance to those on a protein restricted diet. Many if not most have this information listed on the box - because it is specifically made for this populations dietary needs.
