- My name is Diane Langan. I am 40 something years old. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 9 years old. I loved to crochet but never seemed to finish anything I started until I had children, I now have 4. I loved to make fun things for the kids and found I had a hard time finding patterns I liked so I started making my own. I didn't write out the pattern, I just started making stuff. Then one day about 15 years ago I bought a crochet magazine, Crochet World by House of White Birches, and saw on the inside of the front cover information on how to submit your own patterns. WOW, someone might pay for some of my patterns, I was excited and thought the extra money would be nice. I submitted my first pattern and got a response that they wanted to buy it. This started a trend of designing and selling my patterns. I have had patterns published by House of White Birches, Annie's Attic, Leisure Arts and Herschners. They have been in Monthly magazines, books and the leaflets you buy in your local craft stores.
