- About Scott King
- Scott King, editor-in-chief of Diabetes Health magazine, has lived with type 1 diabetes for 30 years. While working as an insurance actuary, he used tables showing that diabetes shortens the lifespan of people with the disease. He and his business partner, Nadia Al-Samarrie, decided to do something about that. After starting a mail-order diabetes supply business in 1989, they realized that customers needed information as well as supplies. Soon “Diabetes on the Dial,” a radio show featuring interviews of world-class experts in the field of diabetes, was born. The demand for transcripts of the broadcasts was so high that before long, King and Al-Samarrie were publishing a monthly magazine, originally named Diabetes Interview.
