Title

The Denver Gem & Mineral Show

Description

The 42nd annual Denver Gem & Mineral Show will be held September 18-20, 2009. The theme for 2009 is “Fossils – Windows to the Past.”

Every September, rockhounds, geologists, paleontologists, artists, and people who just like rocks converge on the Denver Merchandise Mart for the Denver Gem and Mineral Show, the second-largest show in the United States, with exhibits and dealer displays from all over the world. 300 vendors and exhibits display and sell minerals, fossils, meteorites, gems, beads, jewelry and gift items, books, lapidary equipment, and more. Crafters and scientists demonstrate gem cutting, jewelry making, and fossil preparation. Displays showcase some of the world’s finest museum collections, and experts will speak on topics of geological and paleontological interest. There will be free gold panning and other activities for children and free gem and mineral identification throughout the weekend. It's a good opportunity to get in touch with one of the local clubs that continue to foster interest in the earth sciences all year round.

Excerpted from the website:
