Description
The Dennis Martinez Foundation is a nonprofit organization. It was established in 1997 by Mr. Dennis Martinez, the first Nicaraguan pitcher to play in the Major Baseball Leagues. Our main priority is to help the children in Nicaragua by building schools, stadiums, housing, and providing everyday meals, clothing, and medical care. This helps to keep kids out of the streets and away from drugs and crime.
The Dennis Martinez Foundation offers programs and services that encourage self-reliance for children to work together in harmony, creating a better future for themselves. We count with the contribution of volunteers that help provide relief and rehabilitation services for less fortunate children. Some of the children that come to our shelters have been abandoned by their parents because of poverty, others are just left to their luck. The older children come in by themselves looking for a home and a safe place to sleep.
Since the Foundation opened, we have helped the victims of Hurricane Mitch, the flood victims in Venezuela, Honduras, and Salvador. We will continue to help in Central America whenever help is needed.
