All of the Artwork featured in the ButtonZUP.com line of collectible buttons was done by Mudge Studios. Mudge first became interested in Political Art in 1992 when he was hired as a freelancer to produce ink wash caricature illustrations of the 3 Presidential candidates ( Ross Perot, Bill Clinton and George Bush the Elder) for use on pennants and buttons. Not long after, he entered an art contest sponsered by Editorial Humor. He placed second in the political illustration category with several illustrations featuring Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Ross Perot, George Bush and many others. Soon after he landed an opportunity to produce artwork for AA Marketing. A series of 3 Political Parody Pins featuring John Kerry and William Weld of the '96 Mass. Senate Race was produced.
Busy with freelance work, Mudge became dormant in the political art arena for almost 4 years. That was until the Historic Election of the year 2000 sparked interest. Mudge saw potential in developing some fun artwork with the Clintons leaving the WhiteHouse, Hillary seeking a Senate Seat and another Bush running for President. What else could an artist hope for? Well- how about "Flori-duh"- need we say more? The long drawn out Battle between Bush and Gore begged for some creative illustration to be displayed on 3" round pinbacks. After many requests, our political line has grown to include quality straight forward campaign style buttons. See our2004 collection!
Mudge's work has been featured on products produced by: Salem SportsWear, Reebok, Bean Town Bagz, International Pin Co., Hayden Enterprises and First Ammendment Publishing. His work has also been featured in publications such as: The Lowell Sun, Beckett Monthly, Topps Magazine, Music connection, Lowell Alumni Mag., SportsCard Trader, and CD Review.
