Welcome to The Design Linc! Since 1995 we have provided you with on-line resources and information specifically geared toward people with disabilities and special design needs, as well as those involved in their care.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, there are over 54 million people in the United States who are disabled in some way. These disabilities may involve physical abilities, sensory abilities or cognitive abilities or all of the above. The growing population of the elderly can also bring on a number of these disabilities.
As peoples' needs change throughout life, more and more are moving toward accessible design, a universal design concept that strives to incorporate characteristics for access into products, elements and spaces that can be used by everyone.
