Russia is one of the most competitive outsourcings markets in the world. While the size of the market in Russian is only 10% of that in India, the growth rate is impressive and well known companies like Boeing, Deutsch Bank, Microsoft, IBM and INTEL have already established significant software labs in Russia.
Russia scores well for both benefits. Price levels are comparable to those in India, while Russian engineers are known to be among the best qualified in the world. As an example, the world finals of the IBM sponsored annual ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest have been won by Russian universities in 2000, 2001 and 2004.
So, the main reason we have been doing our outsourcing from Russia is price and quality. All staff working on our projects is in the possession of a relevant technical university degree and posses skills hard to find in most of our clients markets.
