A little about me, and this site...
My interest in photography lead me into the darkroom many years ago. During attempts to find construction information on the web, I discovered that it's not readily available. That was the impetus for writing an on-line "book" about building darkrooms. This site is the results of my research into how to build a darkroom, and the things I've learned while building two darkrooms. During the past 11 years, I've built two darkrooms, and I'm working on my third. The first was 4'x6' inside, the second was 8'x8', and the third is portable. The first two were built with 2x4 stud framing covered with drywall. I ran wiring, built sinks, tables, shelves, cabinets, and the like. For the current one I'll be making the entire darkroom "packable" so that I can move it from its current location into the next, more permanent location.
In a 4'x6' room, I was only able to have a 4'x2' sink, which was barely adequate for 11x14 prints in Black & White, but was reasonable for 8x11 or anything done in my Jobo processor.
The 8'x8' room allowed me to have an 8' sink, which had significantly more room. I didn't have much time in that darkroom before moving again, but I'd like the next sink to be that big again.
