About the Club

So, you’re interested in acting, directing, writing, stage-managing, lighting, sound, producing, designing, publicising, or just watching plays? The ADC is the place to indulge your desires - or even discover some new ones. Best of all, anyone can do any of it - absolutely no experience required.

Founded in 1855, the Amateur Dramatic Club (or ADC) is the oldest University dramatic society in England - and the largest dramatic society in Cambridge. We’re at the very heart of one of the liveliest student theatre scenes in the country. We stage an exciting and diverse range of productions every term, many of them at the fully-equipped ADC Theatre in Park Street, where we are the resident company. We regularly stage shows at other Cambridge venues, annually at the Edinburgh Fringe and occasionally on tour abroad. Click here for more information about the shows we put on.

There is also a programme of professional and student-run workshops for actors, directors and technicians and a series of late-night experimental pieces known as One Night Stands. Our role in student drama is one of participation, education and support; striving to achieve the most artistically successful shows, while getting the maximum number of people involved in them.
