Description
C&S Collectables was established in 1986. We began by standing at local collectors fairs buying and selling Wade and a whole lot of other collectables. Soon discovering that Wade was by far the best seller and most sort after collectable, they approached Wade Potteries in 1992 to commission their first figure, the Arthur Hare character from the children's book "The Silent Butterfly" written by Caroline Parkes. This proved such a success at the time that other characters were commissioned from the book.
This was followed in 1994 by Andy Capp and Flo; C&S becoming the first to commission Wade to produce licensed figurines. This was followed over the next few years with commissions of internationally known characters such as Mr Magoo, Snoopy, Woodstock, Charlie Brown and Linus, Garfield, Orinoca Womble, Thomas The Tank Engine, The Fat Controller, and the engines Henry, Percy and James as well as C&Ss own Arthur Hare Collection. However by far the most popular character to be produced by Wade for C&S has been Betty Boop, indeed the name of Betty Boop in the UK has become synonymous with Wade and C&S.
In 1995 C&S took their first retail outlet in the High Street in Arundel, West Sussex near the south coast of England, moving to the present location on the Town Quay in 1997. This was also the year when C&S were granted the title of The Official Wade Collectors Centre by Wade Ceramics as they had become known by this time.
