Then in 1994, CROSS Systems switched to developing Windows products. The existing library program was selected as the first to be rewritten for Windows because it was considered to be the most simple module. The original version of the program was released in December 1994. News items in various computer magazines announced that the CROSS Library program for Windows was available for $50. Orders started flowing in along with many inquiries expressing surprise that there was a library program available in Windows at such a low price when most programs (all in DOS at the time) cost hundreds to thousands of dollars each. Many also expressed appreciation for the user-friendly interface.
Around that time, the well-liked library interface was used in developing the Inventory 1.3 software to track and manage assets such as equipment, tables, chairs, etc. It was released for $95.
As the library program grew in popularity, CROSS Systems added many more features and released Library 1.7 for $150 in December 1997. After that, CROSS Systems began versioning the software by date and has continued to add an abundant number of features although the price has remained the same since 1997.
