Counselling offers a safe and supportive environment in which the client brings issues that may be distressing or confusing. The client may feel that the difficulties being faced are resulting in emotional or physical symptoms.
The session lasts for 50 minutes and is usually held weekly. During this time, the counsellor helps the client to find an understanding of and ways of working through the problems faced.
Clients often explain that the value of being truly heard and not judged has the effect of reducing the distress felt. This creates a new understanding and clarity within the client and allows them to realise new ways of dealing with life.
