Cosmopolitan Lodge No. 43 was founded in Zurich in 1960. lt is one of eight Masonic lodges holding meetings on the historic site called the Lindenhof. The building belongs to "Modestia cum Libertate", a lodge established in 1768.
The founders of Cosmopolitan Lodge in Zurich were Swiss, English and Australians who became members of the Order in overseas countries, especially in the Far East. On their return from China, Korea, Japan, Nigeria and many other places, English (being the spoken language in these countries) became the official language of the Lodge.
These days, most members are Swiss, but many other countries are also well represented. Brethren in our ranks today hail from the USA, England, Scotland, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Eastern European countries, etc.
