Using an Auditory-verbal approach, supported by a team of qualified professionals, provide a Centre of excellance for children with hearing impairment to achieve their maximum potential in audition and spoken language.

The Cora Barclay Centre for deaf and hearing impaired children was established in 1945 by a group of pioneering women whose babies were born deaf due to the 1940's rubella epidemic. Originally called the South Australian Oral School these mothers wanted their hearing impaired children to have the choice /option of learning speech and language.

The Cora Barclay Centre's mission for children who have a deaf and hearing impairment has remained the same since the early days, to maximise the residual hearing and communicate using oral methods.
