Consumers Council of Canada
Description
The Consumers Council of Canada Foundation was established in 2002 to support the work of the Consumers Council of Canada. The Council, established in 1994, is a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization that provides informed opinion through its Public Interest Network (PIN), a volunteer 'think tank' of over 400 thoughtful and engaged leaders from across the country in many differnt fields of expertise.
The Consumers Council of Canada Foundation needs funding to enable it to fulfill its mission of supporting the work of the Consumers Council of Canada. Donations to the Foundation enable it to fund the research and educational projects needed to bring an informed consumer voice to the policy table and to inform and educate consumers so that they can make informed choices in the marketplace.
The Council receives frequent and continual requests from the federal and provincial governments for a consumer viewpoint on a wide variety of issues, among them on changing regulations for product standards, inspection and labelling. These requests require additional resources in order to provide well-researched and credible responses.
