- I became a Christian in January 1962 at age 10. I became involved in outreach starting at age 12 with my father. During this time, while praying one day, Jesus asked me if I would go to Africa and I said, Oh, Yes! At 14 I was a member of a street ministry team in New Orleans, La., also teaching my Sunday school class at 15 years of age. I became discouraged at 17 with the fighting within the church and left after 3 church splits. For the next 23 years I attended church some and became involved several times, starting evangelistic teams and teaching Sunday school. During this time I was also involved with juvenile delinquents and the police department.
