I have helped people in workplaces and communities to resolve their differences for over ten years. Clients tell me that my strength is my ability to quickly get to the heart of an intractable, complicated problem, and then to manage the conversation through to a solution.
During my graduate studies at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, at George Mason University (near Washington, D.C.), I became greatly interested in identity-based conflicts--that is, disputes framed in the language of racism, sexism, cultural values, etc.. Conflict resolution is fascinating to me, and I continue to research and publish in new areas of interest. My conflict resolution model, which addresses the sources of blame and distrust, is featured by the author of The Conflict Resolution Toolbox. My own book, From Conflict To Creativity, explores the creative potential of conflict.
As a faculty member in Conrad Grebel University's Conflict Management Certificate Program, I help to train new mediators in "Alternative Dispute Resolution", and “Basic Family Mediation.” As Chair of the Employment Section, and Sections Coordinator at the ADR Institute of Ontario, I volunteer my time to further the quality of dispute resolution.
