History
Colorado Boat Center originally began as a custom boat cover business in 1988. Tom Smith, owner, had been a grocery store manager for over 20 years, and having been laid off three times in four years, decided to take a break. Instead, he invested in a commercial sewing machine with the intent to make a cover for his boat. Within two years he had a solid business and was renting retail space to showcase his covers. Eventually he put boats out on consignment and bam! that's how Colorado Boat Center was born.
