It was a personal experience with chiropractic that inspired Dr. Carrie to become a chiropractor. After a nasty injury to her knee during a gymnastics event, Dr. Carrie had reconstructive surgery on that knee. After a year of physical therapy and recovery, she was still living with pain and walking with a limp. She decided to try something different and went to a chiropractor. After only 3 visits, the limp and the pain were gone. This was an amazing and eye opening experience for Dr. Carrie and she decided then that chiropractic was what she wanted to do.
Dr. Carrie attended Bemidji State University completing her undergraduate studies before enrolling in Northwestern College of Chiropractic. It was here where she received her chiropractic licensure and acupuncture certification and also peaked her interest in kinesiology, nutrition and managing health in a completely natural way.
In 2000, Dr. Carrie and her husband James found themselves living in Elk River. Collyard Chiropractic, P.A. opened its doors in September 2001 in Elk River in the Hillside Crossing mall next door to Time Out Restaurant & Sports Bar.
