Title

Council of International Schools

Description

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a not-for-profit association of schools and post-secondary institutions working collaboratively for the continuous improvement of international education. CIS announces a call for nominations to its Board of Trustees.

The CIS Board consists of nine official representatives of CIS member schools. Three Board positions for three-year terms each will be open for this year’s election. Therefore, in accordance with CIS Board Policy, no fewer than five and no more than six candidates will be nominated for election. If you know of a head of a CIS member school who would bring expertise and energy to the CIS Board, or if you yourself are interested in contributing to the future shape of CIS, we would be pleased to receive your nomination. The Board’s intention is to recruit representatives from each world region– Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe (please note the current Board composition below). The Board meets 3-4 times a year at locations around the world, typically for two days of strategic discussion and planning.

The 2006 election will be held electronically (except for schools where this is not feasible, in which case voting by mailed ballot will be arranged) and will be managed by the accountancy firm of Barter, Durgan, & Muir. Ballots will be distributed during the second half of September 2005.
