Description
The centre has an international network of associate researchers and consultants who have undertaken project work for governments, the media industry, NGOs and public organisations across Europe and the globe. The activities of the centre are built upon two central pillars: a media policy and a media development programme.The media development programme specialises in providing advice and assistance to transitional countries and international agencies that support the development of media law, professionalism and standards.
Its activities cover media monitoring work, providing independent assistance to legal and regulatory professionals and training for journalists. The media policy research programme provides regulatory and industrial research for the media sector, governments and NGOs. It specialises in cross-national comparative research with a particular focus on the member states of the European Union and European Union media policy. We have undertaken research on a wide range of media related issues including media markets and concentration, media and elections, public service broadcasting structures, programme policies and audiovisual regulation.
