A new Hull motor service and repair centre which aims to bring back to life the one-to-one relationship between technician and customer. Classic 900 is based at Unit 18 on the Acorn Industrial Estate in Bontoft Avenue and is the brainchild of three men well known in the city's motor trade. The partners - Glenn Marks, Bryan Ward and Simon Cone have between them more than 40 years experience in the motor business, much of that time working with the Saab range, from where they chose the name for their new venture. All have previousely worked in the main dealership sector in Hull. Bryan initially trained and worked as a Jaguar technician before his employer acquired the Hull Saab franchise in the early 1970's and in 1984 was awarded one of Saab's highest accolades, that of Saab Master Technician. Sales and management experience is brought to the team by Glenn, who over the past 18 years, has worked in Hull and other parts of Yorkshire with Rover, Nissan, VW Audi and Saab dealerships. Simon who lives in Hessle, is a fully trained Saab technician and has several years experience as a sales executive. Glenn said, 'the three of us - with a little help from our friends and family - have dug deep into our pockets to self finance the launch of Classic 900. We want to move away from the situation most motorists have to endure today where they hardly ever have an opportunity to meet the technician who has worked on their vehicle'. 'While reception staff probably do a very sound job, we know that discerning car owners would prefer to chat to the person who is after all providing the vehicle with the much-needed regular health check. Lets face it, if you see your GP every six months for a check-up, you don't want the receptionist talking you through your results'. He added, 'It has taken us months of hard work to get to this stage but we began taking bookings well before opening'.
