- City Creek Press is owned and operated by Judy Liautaud. The company was originally named Key Publishers and was founded in 1992. While operating a Sylvan Learning Center in Bountiful, Utah, the owners saw a clear need for a different way to teach students to memorize the basic math facts. Plenty of effort was put into drilling with flash cards to experience the frustration and lack of progress with many of these students. The kids were bored and frustrated, too. So pictures and stories were invented to allow the students to associate a mental image with the math fact. The teachers at the learning center were delighted when the students returned the following weeks, remembering the stories and the answers to the facts. The next year was spent writing and developing the book, Times Tables the Fun Way.
