- Citizens First Bank, with branches in Viroqua, Trempealeau, Sparta, Viola and Centerville is a family-owned banking group, each with a long history in the communities we serve. We started in 1969 with the purchase of First National Bank of Viroqua and Farmers State Bank of Viola. In 1985, the family purchased Citizens State Bank in Trempealeau. Finally, in 1999, the M&I Bank branch in Sparta joined the group. In the summer of 2005, all four banks were merged and reorganized as Citizens First Bank, a State of Wisconsin chartered bank. Most recently, we opened a new branch in Centerville.
