Description
Excerpted from the website:
- Since 1938, Circle Pines has been a community where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to work, play, and relax in a cooperative, supportive, and creative environment. The history of the Center includes not only the worldwide cooperative movement, but also Danish folk schools, Quaker work camps, music and dance, the civil rights movement, and activists for peace and social justice. The mission today is the same as it was 60 years ago, to show the "superior advantages of cooperation as a way of life."

Additional Information
Circle Pines Center Cooperative is the US's oldest coopeative in existance. We are a recreation and education coop that serves the midwest as a region. We are located 3 1/2 hours East of Chicago in Delton, MI, with many members in Chicago.
The aim of the Center is to demonstrate cooperative alternatives for economic and social issues and to teach cooperation as a way of life.
Circle Pines is a community where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to work, play, and relax in a cooperative, supportive, and creative environment. We have a tradition of commitment to peace and social justice and we work toward these goals as a cooperative.
Circle Pines is open year-round. Our biggest program is a Summer Camp for young people ages 8-17. We also run our own programs for our membership and for the general public, and our facilities are available for use by groups from ten to two hundred people.
Currently the membership is working on a large scale habitat restoration to secure native acreage for the use by endangered, and threatened species. We are hosting a series of free weekends known as workbees to prepare the grounds for a prescribed burn in the spring.
