- Movement for Alternatives and Youth Awareness (MAYA), a development and training organisation was started in November 1989, to address the rights and responsibilities of all children and youth. The organisational structure at MAYA is such that the programme staff are divided into six groups viz., Child Labour Programme Bangalore Urban, Child Labour Programme Bangalore Rural, Citizens' Initiative on Elementary Education, Vocational Training Programme for Youth, Pre-vocational Programme and Finance and Administration. MAYA works mainly in Karnataka and has offices established in six districts of the state. The thrust of community work is concentrate in the districts of Bangalore Urban (South) and Bangalore Rural (Channapatna and Ramanagaram talukas).
