Chinook Winds Greyhounds
Description
Our mandate is to find responsible, loving, permanent homes for racing greyhounds when they retire; to look out for the welfare of all greyhounds; and to educate people about the unique and desirable qualities that make greyhounds suitable as companion animals. We believe in a nonpartisan approach to greyhound adoption and are willing to work with other greyhound and animal rescue groups to attain our goals.
Although the majority of our greyhounds are retired racers from the United States, we are committed to helping all greyhounds in need, including retired brood moms, those who are injured or in ill health, those not fast enough to race, seniors, those born and bred in Alberta; in other words, any greyhound in need.
Our group welcomes and encourages an active, organized volunteer base of greyhound lovers who share our vision of finding loving, responsible, permanent homes for greyhounds. A countless number of our volunteers help with transporting greyhounds from the United States and caring for the greyhounds in their own homes while the greyhounds await adoption. Other volunteers contribute time as adoption representatives, fundraisers or event organizers. Many more help spread the word about greyhounds by increasing public awareness at “Meet and Greets” and other forums. We are very proud of the work we do and the many volunteer hours it takes to provide homes for these gentle creatures. Our volunteers generously donate their time and talents to help over 100 greyhounds find homes every year. We quote the number of dogs we place only to give you a sense of our pride in our work.
