Chiltern Trains has already celebrated its 25th birthday! We’re a well established holiday company based in Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom whose speciality is rail travel as an integral part of the total holiday experience. Travel from your local station - which can be ANY National railway station in Great Britain - to the Tour commencement point. If your chosen holiday is a group tour then it‘s here that you will meet your fellow travellers, and also your Tour Manager or driver/courier.( Many coach operators have a network of up to 500 coach collection points; we can offer you a choice from over 2,500 railway stations!). Our experienced rail consultants are able to navigate your way through the maze of rail timetables to find the most convenient trains with as few changes as possible........ and at the easiest stations. All customers are supplied with an individually produced fully comprehensive joining itinerary detailing the complete journey. Complimentary seat reservations are also supplied where available for all long distance journeys.
These are all carefully selected to provide good service and facilities, as well as excellent food. Most hotels are British 3-star standard, certified by the Scottish or English Tourist Boards, although for some of the remoter areas we visit, smaller hotels are used. This does not mean a reduction in overall quality; they may, for example, not meet 3-star standard simply because they do not offer a night porterage service.
No reduced tour menus for our customers! We offer full table d'hôte dinner throughout (upgradeable if required at guest’s cost to individually prepared á lá carte fare) together with a cooked Scottish or English breakfast. In this way the need for a full luncheon is avoided and an optional light snack may be purchased whilst “on tour” during the day - at a carefully chosen quality venue.
