- The UK has a relatively small HIV and AIDS epidemic in comparison with some parts of the world, with an estimated 73,000 people – or around 0.2% of the adult population – currently living with HIV. While the number of people living with HIV in the UK is relatively low, it has increased dramatically since the 1990’s, alongside a general rise in the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections.
