Back in the late 60s Charles Saunders was a retail fish monger in the centre of Bristol. The shop was part of the huge MacFisheries enterprise and was the busiest and most successful shop in their chain. This success led to the foundation of a wholesale fresh fish operation which in turn led to a frozen food business, known as Kiltie.
In 1983 MacFisheries decided to close their retail outlets and Chris Scott, who had been managing the Bristol-based business since its conception, acquired the company and moved it to existing cold store facilities in Albert Road in the St Philips area of Bristol.
Since then Chris has added office facilities, doubled the cold storage and has added a complete wet fish facility including chill fridges, preparation rooms and holding tanks for crab and lobster.
