Like the coconut trees that dot the tropical landscape of the Philippines, the Celebes Group of Companies stands tall and proud today. Its corporate odyssey began without much fanfare in 1981 when it manufactured wood products from timber sourced from its own forest concession in Butuan City, an island of Mindanao. Yet from this modest start emerged one of the country’s largest export-oriented enterprises, right at the onset of the New Millennium.
Mindanao, then and now, remains a land of dazzling cultural splendor and agricultural promises. The island’s abundant natural wealth provides the strong impetus to the Management Team of the Celebes Group to continually expand its entrepreneurial endeavors. The rich harvest from its surrounding water soon led the company to diversify into deep-sea tuna fishing in 1983. Spurred by its success in tuna fishing, Celebes focused its vision and energy on becoming a truly diversified quality food supplier to the local and global market.
Among its first areas of concern is adequate capitalization to help stimulate and propel business growth. Celebes opened its financing company in 1997 and continues to service businesses in areas where Celebes operates.
