- Cedar Hill Resort is a website for the pleasure boaters of pool 26 of the Mississippi River near St. Louis. It features a new river picture everyday and includes river and boating news. Pool 26 is also known as Alton Lake and Alton Pool. It is bounded by the Melvin Price Lock and Dam at Alton, Illinois on the lower end and Winfield Lock and Dam on the upper end. It also includes part of the Illinois River from the confluence at Grafton, Illinois to Hardin, Illinois. Some of the cities and towns that are on or near Alton Pool are Alton, Brussels, Elsah, Golden Eagle, Grafton, Hardin, Portage Des Sioux, St. Charles, St. Peters and West Alton. Boat harbors include Alton Marina, Grafton Harbor, Heartland Marina, John’s Boat Harbor, Harbor point Yacht Club, Hide-A-Away Harbor, My River Home, Lake Center, Northshore, Palisades, Piasa Harbor, Riverside Harbor, Sherwood, Sioux Yacht Club, St. Louis Yacht Club, Two Branch and Woodland Marina. Some of the popular river restaurants on pool 26 are Cedar Hill, Kinders, The Loading Dock, North Shore, The Sand Bar Restaurant at Lake Center, Sharkeys Cove, and Longshots. Alton Pool has 4 ferries; Brussels Ferry, Golden Eagle Ferry, Grafton Ferry and the Winfield Ferry. Some of the more popular river parties include the Jamaica Daze Party, the infamous Thursday Night Party at Iowa Island, Mardi Gras on the River. Some of the river social clubs include Con Trios Yacht Club and Anchor Yankers.
