How tight is inventory? Pretty tight. For the entire year of 2004, only 13 houses on motorboat lakes were sold in the entire county and 29 on non-motorboat lakes (excluding sales at the Chapin Estate, which are not in the MLS.)
Dam May Be Sold
(Feb. 3, 2006) Many of us here were shocked when we woke up this morning to a story in the Times Herald Record that Mirant Corp., the owner of the Swinging Bridge Dam (which was damaged last may, and resulted in the drawdown of Swinging Bridge reservoir for repairs) is looking to sell the dam and forfeit its operating licenses. The bottom line is that it looks like Mirant will not be completing the repairs, and Swinging Bridge will not be refilled starting at the end of March, as Mirant had predicted.
Sullivan County lakefront real estate tends to be in very short supply. As a result, prices have climbed faster than almost any other property category in Sullivan County.
