Casa Loca began in January 1995 when Angelo Varias, a former musician and retail manager first traveled to Mexico. He was captivated by the handcrafted rustic furnishings, both for their sense of history, and for their down-to-earth sensibility.
Angelo felt this furniture would work equally well in a contemporary loft, or a more traditional home. At the time, rustic Mexican furniture was not available in Chicago, so a business idea was born. In just a few months Angelo secured his space at 1130 North Milwaukee, found reliable sources in Mexico, navigated the complicated world of international shipping and customs, and opened the doors of Casa Loca in June 1995.
To Angelo, Casa Loca is much more than a business. It is a passion. It is a form of creative expression. And it is a community.
