In 1999, Farney Community Development Group Ltd. secured a long-term lease on the Workhouse from its current owners - Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Ltd. We are a company limited by guarantee with Charitable Status working to boost the social, community and economic potential of Farney. Therefore, the primary aim of the Workhouse is to operate as a one-stop shop for various community groups and agencies operating in the area, to allow them to integrate together to offer services such as, information provision, training, and employment opportunities to our community. Funding under the Peace I & II Programmes has enabled us to establish and co-ordinate cross border, cross community exchanges with two partner groups in Belfast. Promoting peace and reconciliation, these exchanges have included youth groups, senior citizens, women's groups, historical groups, and information and employment workshops, with over 400 participants to date.
