Description
A family business established in 1990, Capricorn Engraving supplied namebadges & nameplates only. This soon changed in 1991 when we were being asked by our customers for various signs that were beyond the capabilities of our machinery. We decided to invest in the latest equipment available and purchased our first vinyl plotter.
After a sharp learning curve, we were soon producing various signs for our ever increasing customer base. We thought that there was more work available out in the market place, so we then took a leap forward by incorporating another company name which did not make us sound like just an engraving company. The name that we also trade as is 1-A-Sign?. This helped a great deal as we were now first in the listings of various publications including the Yellow Pages. The work started to flow in and we increased our staffing levels to ensure a prompt turnaround. In 1995 the trade was excited by the introduction of a thermal imaging machine, called the Gerber Edge.
This equipment thermally prints direct onto vinyl giving full colour images for use on vehicles. We decided that this was the way forward and soon we took delivery of the first Gerber Edge in the Stockport area. All this has helped us raise our profile and we are now the proud suppliers to NatWest Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Stockport Council, Trafford Council, The Lowry Centre, Manchester Airport, Argos, plus hundreds of other smaller customers.
