Canada Shopping Links was created to promote Canadian online shopping and encourage Canadians to choose online shopping as an alternative to traditional shopping outside the home. Canada's online retailers supported our concept and encouraged us in the development of this website. Our title says it all! Canada Shopping Links! We bring Canadian shoppers and Canada's retailers together!
When we started this directory in 1999, Canadian online shopping was off to a rocky start. It was hard to find Canadian retailers on the internet. There were few, if any, Canadian directories and the results from search engines included retailers from around the world, with Canadian retailers somewhere in the mix! We asked "What can we do to promote internet shopping in Canada?" And we were told: "Provide a single location for retailers to list their online shopping sites and Canadians to find them".
We began by contacting Canadian retailers, obtaining permission from them to list their online shopping sites, categorizing each retailer according to the type of products offered, manually listing each shopping site, and building the directory from the ground up. Canada Shopping Links grew rapidly and today, we no longer go to the retailers. They come to us!
