The Therapist
I have been practising as a counsellor for several years and am a graduate of Spectrum, a humanistic psychology training centre, accredited by the United Kingdon Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I went into therapy training after taking my first and second degrees as a mature student. My main work is running my practice seeing clients. I do other work for a domestic violence charity. I am also a workplace counsellor for a large American company.
I came to this work through working for a long time managing people and heading teams at work, mainly in third sector (voluntary or charitable) organisations, but also in higher education. Having made many changes in my own career path, I enjoy encouraging others to make changes not just in their working lives but inside themselves for more satisfaction and general contentment. And this can be done at any age, including that time when society suggests you are 'past it'. Of course, it involves taking risks in looking at pain which may have been buried in you for a long time.
