CART Yesterday and Today

In 1984, Ms. Webber began her quest to revive radio drama. She began recording radio shows with stars from Network radio and members of her CART Repertory Stage Productions. CART appeared at conventions and at The Press Club fundraiser for the those unemployed due to the closing of the Los Angeles Examiner, and the Mayor's Fund for The Homeless. Both of the latter were live broadcasts as was CART's first 90-minute musical, an adaptation of Ian Whitcomb's book Lotus Land. The early CART radio shows were heard on KUSC where after the first production of Treasure Island, there were three hundred calls to the station requesting more. For 9 years CART was heard in the Los Angeles area on KUSC, KPCC, and KPFK, and has been heard on NPR (National Public Radio) for the past twelve years. Recently CART signed a contract with World Space to send forty hours of programming to Africa, South America, and parts of Asia.
