Today Cabot House, Inc. with a strong family tradition, consists of eight Cabot House stores, two Ethan Allen stores, six Thomasville stores and two Drexel Heritage stores. All are located on the eastern seaboard from Maine to Florida with Bob Bendetson (left) as President.
Bob's great-grandfather founded a small furniture store in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1912. After working in that store for only a few years, Bob's grandfather and grandmother William and Rose Bendetson started their own store in Haverhill called Boston Furniture Company. Bob's dad, Norris helped his parents until he was called into the service. After the war, Norris returned and took full responsibility for the store. He began expanding the store locations operation in 1971. Norris's son Bobby graduated college and business school in 1977 and officially entered into business. Bobby worked along his father's side until his death in April of 1995. Bobby is now the fourth generation family member to be working with Cabot House.
In the last several years, Cabot House has opened six Thomasville stores and remodeled many existing locations. Most recently Cabot House opened a warehouse distribution facility in Amesbury, Massachusetts and a new retail location in Auburn, Massachusetts. There are future plans for new store locations and additional renovations to existing stores.
