The original Inn was built prior to 1818, and although renovated many times over the years, this landmark Louisiana structure resting near the banks of Bayou Vermilion still retains many features original to the building. Bullets and an old cannon ball found on the grounds attest to Civil War battles in the area. In fact, Federal troops occupied the Inn during the war. If walls could talk, how many intriguing events would be recalled? Tales filled with Cajun history, so rich and inimitable.
