The first meeting took place at the Station Hotel , Burton . The Clubs represented were Halls Collieries , Sharp Bros. , Knight , Burton Public Services , Church Gresley Church , Salt Bros. , Burton YMCA and Netherseale . There were six men's teams and seven mixed teams in that first season . Unfortunately no records exist for the Ladies teams . The original league secretary was a Mr F H Smith , the father of our present treasurer Nigel .He continued his duties until 1965 .
