Description
I create art inspired by spiritual moments that occur during one’s lifetime, such as the birth of a child or the death of a loved one. The relationships between people, the earth, and the hereafter have long intrigued me, and mosaic is a way to explore my feelings about these relationships and to express them in non-verbal language.
I work primarily in glass, and each piece I create is a study of color, light reflectance, and texture as well as the relationships between the three. My goal is for viewers to see the beauty in all things including death, for after death comes rebirth and renewal.
In 1991 I graduated cum laude with a BSc. in Fashion Design and Textile Design from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, now renamed Philadelphia University, which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). After 10 years working in the fashion industry - both in the US and in The Netherlands - I took my management experience with me to pursue my love of mosaics, and my company Earth, Wind & Tiles was born. Project management, also as it is applied to mosaics, is therefore second nature to me. In addition I easily combine my vast technical knowledge with my eye for detail….
