Bridging to the Future is the second phase of a project initiated by the International Gas Union (IGU). The first phase of the project, the Sustainable Urban System Design (SUSD) competition, took place during 2001-2003, the 22nd triennium of the IGU. The SUSD competition was a showcase event at the World Gas Conference in Tokyo, June 2003 (see Background).
