Brewery Arts Center, Carson City - Home

Description

The Brewery Arts Center (BAC) is a 28-year-old 501(c)3 organization operation a regional arts and cultural center. The BAC serves all of the eastern Sierra region reaching from Susanville, CA to Bridgeport, CA and includes Douglas, Lyon, Washoe, and Churchill counties in Nevada, as well as Carson City (wholly occupying Carson County). The region is rural in character and contains many small towns which generally receive little attention or support for arts from other metropolitan areas. The Brewery strives to offer the very best in the performing and visual arts programming to the citizens of the eastern Sierra region.

The BAC facility is a complex of two major buildings located in the historic district of Carson City, NV. The oldest building is the former Carson City Brewing Company and house the Donald W. Reynolds Black Box Theater, a pottery studio, classrooms, offices, a fine arts gallery, Artisans’ gift shop, and an 1864 restored Grand Ballroom. The former St. Teresa’s Church has been converted into a performance hall accommodating 300 patrons. At this time, theater-style seating is being installed to replace the wooden pews. Also located in the performance hall building are a painting studio, dance studio, and several meeting rooms.

The BAC functions as the region’s local arts agency, offering performance venues, arts educational opportunities, and as a catalyst for arts and cultural development. The Brewery Arts Center’s activities are not limited to the facilities, however. Cooperative and collaborative relationships exist with most arts organizations, educational institutions, and special populations groups, such as the Washoe Tribes. The Brewery dedicates itself to innovation and creativity in fostering well-managed arts programs that enrich the lives of members of the community.
