THE FIRM: The practice had its beginnings in April, 1979. At that time it had one employee and operated from rented premises not far from where we are now. From small beginnings the practice has developed into a firm comprising seven solicitors, two articled clerks, two conveyancing clerks and a support staff of 13 and is one of the larger law firms in Cairns. We made the move from North Cairns to our current premises in February 1989.
Our development into a medium sized practice over the past more than 25 years is a result of offering a very "personal service" to our clients. This has resulted in a very high referral rate from current and previous clients and has provided a sound basis for business growth. This "personal service" philosophy has assisted us to develop into a successful commercial and litigation practice.
We are small enough to know all our clients, and large enough with the depth to handle any of the problems they may have. Cairns is now the international gateway to Northern Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. For the year ended December 1999, there were over 800,000 visitors to the Tropical North. Such rapid expansion in the city in which the practice is based has resulted in a parallel growth in both domestic and foreign investment in Cairns.
