In 1996, by an act of Congress, the Boston Harbor Islands became part of the national park system. The park boasts 30 islands that lie within the surrounding harbor and bays, and extends seaward eleven miles from downtown Boston. Add in an investment of over $4 billion in wastewater management and proactive fisheries management, and the harbor is cleaner and more inviting than ever. All of this makes Boston Harbor one of the best places to fish in the Northeast.
